Case Registered Against Dilip Ghosh Over "Identify Father" Remarks

BJP MP Dilip Ghosh has been booked under sections 504 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code. Section 504 deals with punishment for criminal intimidation while Section 509 deals with the offence of outraging the modesty of a woman.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: After receiving a show cause notice from ECI, a case has been registered against BJP MP Dilip Ghosh over his remarks against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in Durgapur Police Station, West Bengal on March 28, Thursday. 

Moreover, Dilip Ghosh has been booked under sections 504 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code. Section 504 deals with punishment for criminal intimidation while Section 509 deals with the offence of outraging the modesty of a woman. 

BJP MP Dilip Ghosh along with Congress Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate received a show cause notice from the Election Commission of India on Wednesday regarding their remarks on Mamata Banerjee and Lok Sabha Candidate Kangana Ranaut respectively.

BJP MP Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday took a jibe at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and remarked that she should identify her own father first as she calls herself the daughter of certain states.

Moreover, Supriya Shrinate posted derogatory remarks against BJP Lok Sabha Candidate Kangana Ranaut and her constituency 'Mandi' shortly after the announcement of Ranaut's candidacy. However, Shrinate claimed that the post was made by a parody account misusing her name.
