Case Filed Against TN BJP Prez K Annamalai For Breaching MCC

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai and Coimbatore BJP Secretary Ramesh on Friday have been booked for breaching the MCC and campaigning beyond permitted hours.

BJP's Lok Sabha candidates from Coimbatore K Annamalai and Ramesh allegedly campaigned till 10:45 PM on Thursday in Avarampalayam. As per the Model Code of Conduct, candidates who are contesting for parliamentary elections must conclude their election campaign by 10:00 PM.

The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on March 16. The election will be held in seven phases beginning on April 19. Moreover, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect since the announcement and will be imposed till the result declaration.
