CAA (Amendment) Rules: 1st Set of Citizenship Certificates Issued

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Days after notification of the Citizenship Amendment, the first set of Citizenship Certificates was issued in New Delhi on May 15, Wednesday.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla gave the citizenship certificates to a few applicants. Moreover, Bhalla congratulated and highlighted salient features of the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024.

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the rules of the Citizenship Amendment Act (2019). Furthermore, the newly implemented CAA will be called the 'Citizenship Amendment Act (Rules) 2024'. The Act aims to grant Indian Citizenship to the refugees and migrants belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist, Jain, and Christian communities who arrived in India before 31st December 2014 and faced persecution in their homelands.
