BY A Staff Reporter : The Border Security Force  has seized fish eggs worth Rs. 4.20 lakh from smugglers on the Indo-Bangladesh border in North 24 Parganas district. On May 06, 2023, vigilant jawans from Border Out Post Ranghat, 68 Battalion, under South Bengal Frontier, acted on concrete information and seized 28 plastic bags filled with fish eggs that smugglers were attempting to smuggle from India to Bangladesh.

The jawans on duty observed 10-12 smugglers with plastic bags moving swiftly towards the international border early in the morning. The jawans chased the smugglers and ordered them to stop. Fearing arrest, the smugglers left the goods there and fled back to the Indian village, taking advantage of the deep bushes. During a search of the area, the jawans seized 28 plastic bags containing fish eggs.

The seized goods were handed over to the Baghdah Police Station for further legal action.

The commanding officer of the 68 Battalion stated that BSF troops always perform their duty on the international border promptly, which has resulted in the foiling of every smuggling attempt. He further stated that BSF jawans will not allow cross-border smuggling under any circumstances.
