BY A STAFF REPORTER: Indian Professional Boxer Vijender Singh Beniwal will likely join the Bharatiya Janata Party on April 3, Wednesday. 

Moreover, silver-medallist of the Commonwealth Games Vijender Singh was an unsuccessful candidate for Congress from the South Delhi Constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. He lost to BJP's candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, who has served as an MP from South Delhi since 2014. However, it is yet to be ascertained if he will get a ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. 

Vijender Singh is the first Indian Boxer to win an Olympic medal. He secured a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He clinched silver medals at the 2006 and 2014 Commonwealth Games in the middleweight division. Beniwal secured 2nd position at the 2009 World Championships and the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
