BY A STAFF REPORTER: Days after his resignation, the BJP nominated former IPS Officer Debashish Dhar from Birbhum, West Bengal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in its 8th list of candidates on March 30, Saturday. 

A 2010 batch IPS officer from the WBPSC, Debashish Dhar tendered his resignation on March 21, Thursday, citing 'personal reasons'. Moreover, he served as the Superintendent of Police in the Coochbehar district. Furthermore, he was suspended in 2021 following the Sitalkuchi firing incident during the West Bengal Assembly Elections. Four people were killed in the incident. 

The BJP also nominated Pranat Tudu from Jhargram constituency in West Bengal. BJP released its 8th list of candidates consisting of 11 names from Odisha, Punjab, and West Bengal states. The BJP nominated former lone AAP MP Sushil Kumar Rinku from Jalandhar, Punjab.
