BY A STAFF REPORTER: The West Bengal BJP on Saturday wrote to the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal seeking action over the remarks of CM Mamata Banerjee against central agencies and the attack on NIA in Purba Medinipur.

The Bengal BJP sought direction to remove several officials over the attack on NIA including the DG and IG of Bengal, ADG Law & Order, SP of Purba Medinipur, SDPO of Contai, and Bhupatinagar Police Station's OC. They also alleged that the said officials have shown beyond doubt alliance with the ruling TMC as the arrested individuals were TMC 'goons'.

The letter detailed the whole incident and accused Mamata Banerjee of passing derogatory comments against Central Agencies. The West Bengal BJP filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal alleging that TMC violated the Model Code of Conduct for offering gifts on the occasion of 'Alvida Jumma' in the month of Ramzan.

Earlier today, Sleuths of NIA faced violent protests at Bhupatinagar while conducting raids in connection with the December 2022 blast case in which three people were killed. An NIA official suffered minor injuries and their vehicles were also vandalized. However, the NIA arrested two key conspirators during the raids.
