Bengal's Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar To Go To Polls Tomorrow

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, West Bengal's Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar on Thursday are gearing up for the first phase of elections.

 BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, West Bengal's Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar on Thursday are gearing up for the first phase of elections.

The constituencies Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar faced controversial political rallies of the BJP and TMC. Moreover, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rallies clashed on the same day in Cooch Behar on April 4, Thursday. 

The BJP has fielded incumbent MP and Union Minister Nisith Pramanik against TMC's Jagdish Chandra Burma Basunia from the Cooch Behar Constituency. BJP's candidate Manoj Tigga will contest from the Alipurduars constituency against TMC's Prakash Chik Baraik. The incumbent BJP MP Jayant Kumar Roy will contest against TMC's Nirmal Chandra Roy from the Jalpaiguri constituency. 

The first phase of the much-awaited Lok Sabha elections is set to commence tomorrow (April 19). In the second phase, Darjeeling, Raiganj, and Balurghat will go to the polls on April 26.
