BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, the West Bengal governor issued a letter assuring the Sikh delegation over the Khalistani slur row on 22nd February, Thursday.

CV Ananda Bose affirmed that Bengal, India, the society, and their culture stand by the Punjabi fraternity. Moreover, he revealed that a Punjabi Bagh will be established in the Raj Bhavan as a tribute to Bengal's abiding admiration for the Punjabi community. With this, freedom fighter Bhagat Singh's portrait will be unveiled in the Raj Bhavan on 23rd February.

Bose further mentioned and commemorated various Symbols of the Sikh and Punjabi communities including the Turban and Guru Nanak Dev. He also praised the Punjabi soldiers and farmers for their service.

This comes after a Sikh IPS Officer Jaspreet Singh accused BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari of calling him a 'Khalistani' during a confrontation in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas. Moreover, the incident received significant backlash from top political leaders including West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
