KOLKATA: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the West Bengal government has reassigned several senior IAS and IPS officers to new posts. The move, aimed at streamlining governance and optimizing leadership across departments, involves prominent bureaucrats such as Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Smt. Roshni Sen, and Shri Jagdish Prasad Meena, among others.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, IPS (WB:1990), who previously served as the Principal Secretary in the Environment Department with an additional charge as Member Secretary of the Pollution Control Board, has been appointed Principal Secretary of the Correctional Administration Department.

Smt. Roshni Sen, IAS (WB:1993), will continue as Additional Chief Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Resources but will now take on the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Environment Department.

Shri Jagdish Prasad Meena, IAS (WB:2004), presently the Secretary of Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department, retains his role but will also handle additional responsibilities as Member Secretary of the Pollution Control Board and Divisional Commissioner, Presidency Division.

In a notable change, Shri Yeluchuri Ratnakara Rao, IAS (WB:2006), has been transferred from the Health & Family Welfare Department to the Non-Conventional & Renewable Energy Sources Department.

Shri Shashank Sethi, IAS (WB:2010), the current Managing Director of the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited, has been appointed Managing Director of WBHIDCO. Shri Abhishek Kumar Tiwary, IAS (WB:2012), will now take over Sethi's previous role, with an additional charge as Director of Tourism.

Lastly, Shri Vivek Kumar, IAS (WB:2016), who has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Agriculture Department, will now serve as Joint Secretary in the Health & Family Welfare Department.

The reshuffle highlights the state government’s focus on ensuring effective governance and aligning leadership with key development priorities.
