BY A STAFF REPORTER: A few hours after its collapse, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee reached the Metiabruz Building, South Kolkata, West Bengal on March 18, Monday.

After reaching the site where a 5-storey building collapsed, Mamata Banerjee remarked that the building didn't receive any official instruction and was being illegally constructed. She further asserted that stringent actions will be taken against responsible individuals after a thorough Investigation. Banerjee also assured that the Bengal government will provide assistance to the families of victims. Moreover, the government will also help those whose houses have been damaged in the incident. She also stated that few people are still stuck in the collapse.

In a tragic incident, a five-storey, under-construction building collapsed in a densely populated area of Metiabruz, Kolkata at the death of the night. The collapse resulted in two deaths and several injuries. 13 people have been rescued so far. Rescue operations are underway.
