BY A STAFF REPORTER: As Tapas Roy joins BJP, TMC MP Shantanu Sen on Wednesday slammed his move and asserted that Roy had backstabbed the party.
Moreover, Shantanu Sen claimed that TMC offered several posts to Tapas Roy but he resigned nonetheless. Sen alleged that Tapas Roy joined the BJP in the fear of further ED raids or exchange of some offer. Sen argued that Tapas Roy surrendered to the BJP and he wouldn't be forgiven by the people of Bengal.
Tapas Roy joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the party office in the presence of West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari and BJP state President Sukanta Majumdar in Kolkata.
Veteran TMC MLA Tapas Roy resigned from the party on Monday predominantly due to an ED raid conducted at his flat on 12th February. Roy alleged that the raid was Sudip Banerjee's conspiracy as he carries malice against Tapas. The Sandeshkhali matter, a few scams, alleged ill-treatment and neglect were also among the reasons for his resignation. Moreover, Kunal Ghosh and Bratya Basu attempted to dissuade Tapas Roy but he resigned nonetheless. However, Kunal Ghosh requested him not to join any other party until the matter is sorted.
