Mazagon Dockyards Delivers Two Advanced Warships to Indian Navy

Mumbai: Mazagon Dockyards Limited (MDL) achieved a significant milestone today by delivering two advanced warships to the Indian Navy. The first stealth frigate of the P17A class, Nilgiri, and the fourth guided missile destroyer of the P15B class, Surat, were officially handed over during a ceremony attended by senior naval officials and MDL leadership.

 

The acceptance documents were signed by MDL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) and Rear Admiral R. Adhisrinivasan, CSO (Tech), marking the formal transfer of these state-of-the-art vessels to the Navy.

The delivery underscores MDL's capabilities and expertise in designing and constructing sophisticated war platforms. A spokesperson from MDL remarked, "The delivery of these ships is a testament to MDL's professionalism, expertise, and experience in constructing complex war platforms."

 

The stealth frigate Nilgiri represents a leap in naval technology with its cutting-edge radar-evading design and advanced weapon systems, while Surat, the guided missile destroyer, boasts enhanced firepower and endurance capabilities, strengthening India's maritime defense.

 

These warships are part of India's ongoing efforts to modernize its naval fleet, enhancing operational readiness and self-reliance in defense production. Both vessels are expected to play pivotal roles in safeguarding India's strategic interests in the region.
