Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila has raised strong objections to a deal between Adani Green and the Andhra Pradesh government for the purchase of 7000 MW of solar power. Addressing the media, Sharmila revealed that the Congress party has formally written to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) demanding the deal be scrapped.
“The Andhra Pradesh Congress Party has written to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission demanding that they scrap the deal that Adani Green has made with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in regard to purchasing 7000 MW of solar power at a hiked price,” Sharmila said.
She further criticized the BJP and TDP, holding them accountable for the situation. “The people of Andhra Pradesh have voted for Chandrababu Naidu and indirectly even brought BJP to power. Isn't it their responsibility to stand by the people of the state at a time like this and at least order a commission of inquiry?”
Sharmila warned of long-term consequences if the deal is approved. “If this deal goes through, the people of the state will have to pay hiked electricity bills for 25 years,” she asserted.
Her remarks reflect growing political opposition to large-scale agreements involving public utilities, with concerns over transparency and long-term costs for consumers taking center stage.
