Azamgarh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday inaugurated the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, asserting that the once-neglected regions of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Azamgarh, are now firmly on the path of development. He said the state’s transformation is a key component of the BJP-led central and state governments’ vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.
Speaking at the ceremony, Adityanath declared, “The double engine government of the BJP is working to fulfil the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. Uttar Pradesh has now made its reputation as a state with expressways, from a ‘Bimaru’ (lagging) state.”
Highlighting the significant shift in perception and infrastructure in the region, the Chief Minister added, “Eight years ago, people were afraid to even take the name of Azamgarh. But today, Azamgarh has joined the path of development.”
He also referred to the earlier launch of the Purvanchal Expressway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021, positioning it as a milestone that catalyzed growth across Eastern UP.
