Manipur is still on the edge with sporadic incidents occurring across the state. Insiders in the BJP led government admitted that situation is far from normal. ANM News spoke to few senior  ministers of Manipur who mentioned that confidence building measures are necessary for peace to return. With law and order machinery completely breaking down over the last couple of months, civil society and intellectuals of Manipur had demanded that peace process can only be initiated with the resignation of chief minister N Biren Singh.

Even BJP leaders cutting across communities said apart from two or three ministers, majority of leaders of all communities have lost faith in Biren Singh and has spoken inside several parry forum for him to step down. "We have relayed to our party leaders that N Biren Singh has lost credibility and should resign for any confidence building measure to take place," a senior BJP minister said from Imphal. But chief minister has refused to step down. He claimed that it is a conspiracy, he is trying to reach out different communities with the message of "forget and forgive." But will the communities be able to forget and forgive past incidents of violence which left burnt houses and hundreds dead, is a million dollar question.
