New Delhi, May 1 — Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today highlighted the importance of coordination and dialogue between all constitutional institutions, underlining that each institution must respect its distinct role to preserve the integrity of India’s democratic system.
Speaking at a key event, Dhankhar stated, “All institutions have their own role to play. One should not play the role of another. We should respect the Constitution — literally, in spirit, and in essence.” The Vice President stressed the need for a harmonious relationship between the executive, judiciary, and legislature, urging all three to work together for the betterment of the nation.

With deep respect for the judiciary, Dhankhar shared his personal connection with the legal system, saying, “I have the utmost respect for the judiciary; I have been a soldier of the judiciary. I spent more than four decades as a lawyer. I know that there are extremely talented people in the judiciary.” He further noted, “The judiciary is of great importance. How strong our democratic system is — is defined by the status of the judiciary.”
Acknowledging the global stature of Indian judges, Dhankhar added, “By global standards, our judges are among the best.” Despite this, he urged a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect, calling for greater participation and coordination between all branches of government.
