New Delhi — In a significant statement during the ceremonial launch of the book ‘Ambedkar’s Messages’ authored by former Karnataka BJP MLC D.S. Veeraiah, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday expressed concern over the historical amendment of India’s Preamble, calling it a “devastating” moment that occurred when “people were virtually enslaved.”

Speaking at the Vice President’s Enclave, Dhankhar praised Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s painstaking efforts in drafting the Indian Constitution, urging citizens to reflect on the gravity of the foundational text and its original intent. “We must reflect — Dr. Ambedkar did painstaking work. He would have surely focused on it,” Dhankhar said.

He drew attention to the uniqueness of India’s constitutional journey, noting, “No country's Preamble has undergone change, except Bharat. But devastatingly, this change was affected for Bharat at a time when people were virtually enslaved.”
