Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday announced an ambitious plan to plant 52 crore saplings across the state this year. Speaking at a public event in Ayodhya, the CM emphasized the government's sustained efforts over the past eight years, stating that over 204 crore trees have already been planted during this period, with a reported survival rate of more than 75 percent.
The Chief Minister cited a recent survey by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change which, according to him, confirms a significant increase in forest cover across the state. “Forest cover has increased by 5 lakh acres in Uttar Pradesh,” Adityanath said, noting that this finding has also been verified by third-party institutions approved by the state.
He described the development as a transition from “heatwave to green-wave,” pointing to the potential long-term benefits of increased tree cover, including better climate resilience and ecological balance.
