Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a stern warning against the misuse of drones, stating that individuals involved in spreading terror through drones will face stringent legal consequences. The Chief Minister has directed authorities to invoke the Gangster Act, and if required, the National Security Act (NSA) against violators, according to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
The CMO emphasized that a complete ban on operating drones without prior permission will be enforced across the state. “Strict action will be taken against anyone found violating drone regulations. The Principal Secretary (Home) and Director General of Police (DGP) have been instructed to conduct thorough reviews of drone activities in every district and ensure necessary actions are taken promptly,” the statement said.
The move comes amid rising concerns about the potential misuse of drones for unlawful activities, including surveillance, smuggling, and security breaches in sensitive areas. The Uttar Pradesh government’s decision reflects growing apprehensions regarding the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for disruptive purposes that could pose threats to public safety and law and order.
Officials have been tasked with formulating district-wise operational protocols to monitor drone usage effectively. Enforcement agencies will also collaborate with local administration to ensure that drones are used only for authorized purposes, such as industrial inspections, agriculture, media, and emergency services, under regulated conditions.
