Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ambitious mission to transform every city in the state into a smart city by 2047, aligning with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. The roadmap includes the creation of five international smart cities, aimed at positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leader in modern urban development.
The plan focuses on strengthening urban infrastructure from Purvanchal to Bundelkhand, ensuring reliable 24x7 electricity supply, expanding metro rail services, and building modern housing. Scientific sewage management systems and sustainable waste disposal mechanisms are also part of the blueprint, intended to enhance public health and environmental standards.
In addition, more than 240 new urban bodies will be created and existing ones expanded to manage the demands of rapid urbanisation. The initiative, according to officials, seeks to balance growth between established urban centres and emerging towns, ensuring equitable development across the state.
