Manipur violence: when will it stop?

By A Staff Reporter: His collection of books over the last 40 years have been destroyed. His valuables including wifi sets and other homely stuff looted. The portion of the house which he decorated with his hard earned money from his teaching was reduced to ashes. And all of these done by the miscreants in the name of protests. And it happened despite the fact that he is an influential union minister.

Almost a month after the incident, union minister of state for external affairs and education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh still laments the loss of his books and valuables. Saddened by the manner in which his house in Imphal was attacked and portion of it set on fire, Singh is still to come to terms with the incident. The violence and complete break down of law and order over the past few months and forced peace loving local residents irrespective of communities to clamour for resignation of chief minister N Biren Singh. Despite incidents continuing, Singh has refused to resign.
