Delhi: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Wednesday highlighted the government's initiatives in the mining sector, stating that several reforms undertaken since 2014 have improved transparency and reduced corruption. Addressing the media, he said these reforms have also contributed to employment generation, particularly in rural and mining-affected areas.

“After 2014, several reforms were made in the mining department. Now, mines are allocated with transparency and corruption has been eliminated,” Reddy stated. “People living in villages are getting employment due to these changes."

The Minister further explained the role of the District Mineral Fund (DMF), which has been set up in mining-affected districts under the leadership of District Collectors. According to Reddy, this fund is used to implement development and welfare programs aimed at supporting communities impacted by mining activities, especially those displaced or who have lost jobs.

“In mining-affected areas, jobs are lost due to displacement. For such people, development programs are carried out through the District Mineral Fund. This provides employment to many people,” he added.
