During the Global India AI summit in Delhi, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the profound impact of disinformation, misinformation, and fake news in recent elections, exacerbated by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). "In the recent general elections, we have seen how disinformation, misinformation, and fake news can be a big threat. That threat gets multiplied manifold by the power of AI. This is not something which only we are experiencing, the entire world has experienced the same," Vaishnaw remarked.

He underscored the global response to these emerging risks, emphasizing the need for careful consideration and regulation. "Every society and government is feeling the same threat from the emergence of new risks based on AI. The societies are responding in very methodical and thought-through ways," he added.

Vaishnaw called for collective efforts to harness AI's potential while setting limits and ensuring its integration supports social and democratic values.
