Three New Laws To Replace CrPC On 1st July

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday informed that three new laws- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023,  Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam are set to replace the existing Code of Criminal Procedure on 1st July.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant development, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday informed that three new laws- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023,  Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam are set to replace the existing Code of Criminal Procedure on 1st July.

Furthermore, the three new criminal laws were passed in Parliament's winter session of 2023. Shortly, President Droupadi Murmu gave assent to the laws on 25th December last year.

However, the bills were initially introduced in the August Monsoon session but were withdrawn following several recommendations of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs. Further, the bills were introduced again in the Winter session.
