NEW DELHI — Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday said that the process of theaterisation — aimed at integrating the operational capabilities of the Army, Navy, and Air Force — is bound to happen, stressing that the only uncertainty lies in the timeline for its full implementation.
“Theaterisation will come, just have to see how long it will take,” General Dwivedi remarked, underlining the importance of jointness among the three services to meet evolving security challenges. The concept involves restructuring India’s military commands into integrated theatre commands, allowing for unified planning, resource allocation, and operational execution.
Military experts have long argued that theaterisation would enhance efficiency, reduce duplication of resources, and improve the armed forces’ readiness to respond to modern threats, especially in multi-domain warfare scenarios.
