Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the state government’s decision to decline ₹100 crore from the Adani Group for the Young India Skill University project, citing the ongoing bribery charges against the conglomerate.
Speaking to the media, Reddy clarified that the move was in the best interest of the state’s youth and to ensure the government’s integrity remained unblemished.
“We did not take money from Adani Group for my party or family. The step taken by the Telangana government was for the betterment of the youth of the state,” said the Chief Minister.
He further explained that the state had not received any funds from the Adani Group yet. “Of the ₹100 crores from Adani Group, we have not received a penny yet. To stay away from any controversy or allegations, the state government has decided this,” he added.
The decision aligns with the government’s efforts to avoid associating with companies embroiled in controversies, particularly when the stakes involve significant public trust and youth-centric initiatives.
The Young India Skill University is envisioned as a major project to empower the youth with technical and vocational training, ensuring their employability in competitive industries. The Telangana government’s stand reflects its commitment to transparency and accountability in public-private partnerships.
