External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has reaffirmed India’s unwavering stance on engaging with Pakistan, making it clear that any form of dialogue will be strictly limited to the subject of terrorism. Speaking at a media briefing, Jaishankar emphasized that this position is not just political, but a national consensus backed by a strong mandate.
“The Prime Minister made it very clear that talks with Pakistan will be only on terror,” Jaishankar said, underlining the precondition for any engagement between the two nations. “Pakistan has a list of terrorists that needs to be handed over, and they have to shut down the terrorists' infrastructure. They know what to do.”
He added that India remains open to discussions—but only on dismantling the terror networks that have consistently targeted Indian civilians and security personnel. “We are prepared to discuss with them what is to be done on terrorism. Those are the talks which are feasible.”
