DURG, Chhattisgarh – In a major breakthrough in the Saif Ali Khan attack case, a suspect identified as Aakash Kanojia has been detained by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at the Durg station. The arrest was facilitated by timely coordination between the Juhu Police Station in Mumbai and the RPF in Chhattisgarh.
According to Munawar Khursheed, Inspector General of RPF SECR Zone, Bilaspur, information about the suspect was relayed by the Juhu Police. An Assistant Police Inspector from Mumbai shared details and a photograph of the individual, who was reportedly traveling on the Jnaneswari Express train. Acting promptly, the RPF intercepted Kanojia and brought him to their post in Durg.
“After detaining the suspect, we contacted Mumbai Police officials through a video call to verify his identity,” said Khursheed. The RPF's swift action prevented the suspect from potentially fleeing the region, aiding the ongoing investigation into the high-profile case.
A team from Mumbai Police is expected to arrive in Raipur later today to take custody of the suspect. Details regarding Kanojia’s involvement in the attack are yet to be disclosed, but this development marks a significant step in the case.
