New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), seeking its response to a plea filed by Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, challenging the grounds of his arrest in the state’s alleged liquor scam case.

A bench of the apex court directed the central agency to respond to the petition, which questions the legality and procedure of Chaitanya Baghel’s arrest by the ED. The plea argues that the arrest lacked valid grounds and violated due process under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
