The Supreme Court on Wednesday scheduled a hearing on November 4 for a batch of petitions challenging the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) decision to conduct a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

Petitioners have urged the court to direct the ECI to publish separate lists of deleted and added voters following the SIR process, citing the need for transparency and accountability in the electoral system.

During the proceedings, the apex court noted that the Election Commission is fully aware of its responsibility to disclose voter data once the recently-concluded revision is completed. The court’s observations indicate that the ECI must maintain transparency in updating and publishing electoral rolls to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
