The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Union of India, the National Medical Commission (NMC), and the National Board of Examination (NBE) regarding a plea filed by the United Doctors Front (UDF) challenging the NEET PG 2025 exam format, which is set to be conducted in two separate shifts. The matter, which addresses concerns related to the transparency and fairness of the examination process, was taken up by a bench led by Justice BR Gavai.

The petition, filed by the UDF, argued that conducting the NEET PG exam in two shifts would compromise the integrity of the examination, leading to discrepancies in the difficulty levels of the tests. The UDF has sought that the exam be held in a single shift to ensure uniformity in the difficulty levels and equal standards of evaluation for all candidates.

Justice Gavai has scheduled the matter to be heard next week, which will provide clarity on whether the two-shift format will proceed as planned or if the exam will be altered to meet the concerns raised by the petitioners. The outcome could have significant implications for future medical entrance exams and their conduct.
