By A Staff Reporter: In a boost to tourism in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, government is giving finishing touches to water aerodromes and constructing small airfields. 

Speaking exclusively to ANM News, senior aviation officials mentioned that water aerodromes are coming up at Swaraj Dweep, Sahid Dweep and Long Island in Andamans. “There are plans of 19 seated aircraft taking off from Port Blair and landing on specially created floating airfield in the water in these three islands,” a senior official said.

Aviation ministry officials mentioned that in Campbell Bay, Car Nicobar and Shibpur, small airfields are coming up and these remote islands will be connected by flights from port Blair. Sources mentioned that all basic security clearances and infrastructure facilities are being put in place and work in going on war footing.

Sources mentioned Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has done a commendable job in putting together the internal security map in floating aerodrome and small airfields in these areas.

According to senior officials, services are expected to begin from this year. The air connectivity is expected to improve tourism in Andamans. Experts’ feet remote areas will now have connectivity resulting in boost in tourism.
