Lucknow, UP: In a move to facilitate the massive influx of pilgrims for the Maha Kumbh Mela on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, the Lucknow Division of Indian Railways has announced the operation of 48 special trains to Prayagraj. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lucknow, Satyendra Mohan Sharma, detailed the arrangements in a press briefing.
"The special trains going to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela will be plying till the end of February," Sharma said. He further informed that 11 regular special trains are already operational for short-distance routes, including Ayodhya, Lucknow, Jaunpur, and Banaras.
Additionally, four special trains are running as ring rails, starting from Prayag Junction to accommodate passengers traveling within and around Prayagraj. Pilgrims heading to Banaras have been advised to board trains from Jhunsi Railway Station, while those traveling to Ayodhya, Jaunpur, or Lucknow can avail themselves of services from Prayag Junction.
These trains are part of the railways’ comprehensive plan to manage the massive turnout expected during the Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. The railways have ensured adequate seating arrangements, additional ticket counters, and safety measures to cater to the needs of the pilgrims.
