South African Envoy Highlights Importance of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Bhubaneswar – The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, being held in Odisha, has garnered praise from global dignitaries, including South African Envoy to India, Anil Sooklal. Speaking about the significance of the event, Ambassador Sooklal underscored its role as a vital platform for connecting the global Indian community.

"Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is an important platform, not just for India, but I think for the entire global Indian community, because it provides that platform where we have an opportunity to come together," Sooklal said.

Organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the event serves as a bridge for the Indian diaspora to reconnect with their roots and exchange insights about their respective countries. Sooklal highlighted the inclusivity of the gathering, which unites individuals from both the global North and South under the shared identity of being Indian.

"And I think the MEA is providing this platform to bring us all together, give us an opportunity to interact with each other, to share experiences, in terms of our respective countries, whether we're coming from the global North or global South," he added.

Sooklal emphasized the diaspora's collective aspirations for India's growth and success. "At heart, we are all Indians, and we share the same aspirations. We want to see a strong India," he concluded.
