DELHI: Union Minister Pabitra Margherita reiterated the government's commitment to skill development, emphasizing its role in enhancing employability and economic growth. Speaking at an event, Margherita highlighted the strides India has made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in this critical sector.
"PM Modi has made it clear that skill development will be one of the government's top priorities that will enhance employability," Margherita said. He pointed out that the world has taken notice of India’s initiatives to empower its workforce through robust skill development programs.
Sharing key achievements, the Minister noted a significant increase in the number of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country, enabling better access to technical education and vocational training. He added, "The number of ITIs in India has increased...We have upskilled more than 1.5 crore people under the Skill Development Mission."
The Skill Development Mission, a flagship initiative of the Modi government, aims to provide youth with the necessary tools and training to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global job market. By focusing on bridging the skills gap, the mission has empowered millions to contribute to India’s growth story.
