Mumbai: A political storm erupted after Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, questioned the number of aircraft lost by India, prompting a sharp rebuke from Shiv Sena MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Shinde expressed strong disapproval of Gandhi’s tweet, stating that such remarks undermine national unity at a time when the country needs to stand firmly behind its armed forces.

“When it is the time for war, the entire nation gets united and backs the Armed Forces,” said Shinde. “Rahul Gandhi seems more interested in scoring political points than showing patriotism. His words demoralise our armed forces, who are putting their lives on the line for the country.”

Shinde further criticized Congress for objecting to party MP Shashi Tharoor leading a parliamentary delegation, calling it a missed opportunity for bipartisan unity. “At a time when the Opposition should come together in solidarity, it is very unfortunate that the Congress is taking such a stand,” he said.
