According to information accessed by ANM News from officials and political leaders close to Chief minister MK Stalin, Jiwal is most likely to take over after current incumbent C Sylendra Babu retires on June 30. Home department sources mentioned that there are three main contenders, Sanjay Arora, currently commissioner of police Delhi, BK Ravi and Shankar Jiwal. A senior DMK minister told ANM News that Jiwal, a distinguished officer was close to DMK founder and former chief minister Karunanidhi. Jiwal is credited to have initiated several new initiatives in Chennai police and is known to be a tech savvy daring officer. DMK leaders close to Karunanidhi’s son Stalin mentioned that he is the chief minister’s choice and if there are no last minute issues, Jiwal will be on the hot seat.
