New Delhi: Security arrangements were significantly heightened outside Patiala House Court in the national capital ahead of the expected extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Rana, a Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman, is being extradited from the United States to face trial in India for his alleged involvement in planning and facilitating the deadly 26/11 attacks that claimed over 170 lives. His arrival is expected soon, and preparations are underway to ensure maximum security throughout the legal process.

According to sources, once brought to India, Rana is likely to be lodged in a high-security ward inside Delhi’s Tihar Jail. The prison administration has made the necessary logistical and security arrangements, and is currently awaiting formal directions from the court.
