Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has thrown a direct challenge at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning the transparency of his 11-year tenure at the helm of the country.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Raut said, “If PM Modi has really done some work in the last 11 years, then he should do a press conference and inform us about his achievements. We will ask you questions, and you can answer.”
The remark comes in the backdrop of ongoing political tensions and the opposition’s repeated criticism of the Prime Minister's avoidance of open press briefings during his tenure. Raut’s comments align with a broader demand from opposition leaders who have accused the Modi government of avoiding direct accountability and suppressing independent media voices.
Raut further indicated that a public and unscripted interaction with the press would demonstrate true leadership and democratic openness. He also emphasized that such a move would help the public make a clearer judgment of the government's performance over the past decade.
