Mumbai: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday condemned the India-Pakistan Asia Cup match, calling it “shameless” and saying it disrespected the Armed Forces and families affected by the Pahalgam attack. Raut alleged that large sums from betting had flowed to Pakistan and suggested political and financial interests had influenced the decision to play the fixture.

Speaking at a public event, Raut said the match was an affront to those who lost their lives in Pahalgam and to women who, he said, had been symbolically wronged by the attack. He also repeated claims about betting volumes and accused figures linked to the government and cricket administration of having a role in enabling the match, remarks that echoed comments from other opposition leaders who have questioned the decision to go ahead with the fixture.
