New Delhi: Congress candidate from the New Delhi assembly constituency, Sandeep Dikshit, has launched a scathing attack on Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of misusing taxpayer money to fund freebies in an attempt to garner votes. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Dikshit stated, "What are they giving other than freebies? This is not your money, this is the money of the taxpayers of Delhi. Which you are looting... you are only looting the public's money to win votes."
Dikshit alleged that Kejriwal's governance model revolves solely around distributing free benefits rather than addressing long-term developmental issues or creating sustainable policies. "One thing has been proved that Arvind Kejriwal can do nothing other than giving freebies," he added, asserting that such measures fail to address the real needs of Delhi's citizens.
The remarks come at a time when the Delhi government has faced criticism from opposition parties over its welfare schemes, which include free electricity, water subsidies, and free public transport for women. While these policies have been hailed by Kejriwal's supporters as transformative and inclusive, critics argue that they are financially unsustainable and amount to populism.
