BJP leader and Member of Parliament Sambit Patra has strongly criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his recent comments made during a lecture at Brown University in Boston, where Gandhi reportedly raised concerns about the functioning of Indian democracy and the Election Commission of India.

Patra questioned the timing and intent of the remarks, especially given the concurrent visit of the U.S. Vice President to India. “He gave a lecture at Brown University in Boston, and look at the irony—while the Vice President of the US was here, he chose to go to the US and speak against India and its democracy,” Patra said.

The BJP spokesperson accused the Congress leader of displaying a consistent pattern of criticizing India on international platforms. “This has become a pattern for the Congress party. It’s not the first time—we have seen similar behaviour during the Commonwealth era as well,” Patra added, suggesting that such actions undermine India's global image and democratic institutions.
