KOLKATA: The investigation into the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case continues under the supervision of the Supreme Court, ensuring transparency and adherence to due process. Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh addressed the media on the matter, emphasizing the progress being made.
“As per the Supreme Court, the investigation, filing of the charge sheet, and trial are proceeding properly. That is why they do not see the need to assign a specific date at this moment,” Ghosh said, referring to the apex court’s close monitoring of the case, which is currently being tried in Sealdah court.
The case, which sparked outrage across West Bengal, has been under intense scrutiny. The Supreme Court's involvement has been welcomed as a step toward impartial justice. Ghosh highlighted the importance of this oversight, stating, “The investigation is being conducted with utmost care under the Court’s instructions.”
In a pointed comment, Ghosh criticized those doubting the state police’s efficiency, saying, “If it were up to the Bengal Police, they would have issued a death-by-hanging order immediately.” His remarks appeared to address concerns about political influence and calls for expedited actions without due legal procedures.
The RG Kar Medical College incident has reignited discussions around safety and the need for stringent measures to prevent such crimes. The trial's progress under the Supreme Court’s watch offers some reassurance to the public about the delivery of justice.
As the case unfolds, all eyes remain on the judiciary to ensure that the victim's family receives justice, setting a precedent for addressing such grave crimes with seriousness and transparency.
