Delhi: On the eve of the vice-presidential election, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday targeted the opposition’s candidate B Sudershan Reddy, questioning his past judicial record and ideological leanings.
Addressing a press conference, Prasad referred to Reddy’s judgment on the Salwa Judum, a state-backed militia once active in Chhattisgarh, arguing that the verdict read more like a political statement than a legal order. “One should read Sudershan Reddy, the opposition's vice-presidential candidate, judgment on Salwa Judum — it is less a judicial order and more of a pro-Leftist speech. I am saying this as a law student,” he remarked.
The BJP leader further asserted that the remarks reflect concerns about the opposition’s choice of candidate for such a high constitutional post. He expressed confidence that the ruling party and its allies would provide what he termed as “a good answer tomorrow” through the ballot.
