Ramgarh, 16 August — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday visited Nemra village in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district, the ancestral home of tribal leader Shibu Soren, to attend his ‘Shraddh’ ceremony and offer condolences to the family.

Remembering the veteran leader, Singh described him as one of the most prominent figures of the tribal community. “He was a very simple man. If any great fighter was born in the tribal community after Birsa Munda, then it was Dishom Guru Shibu Soren. He is not among us, which is an irreparable loss,” Singh said.

He further added that Soren dedicated his life to the welfare of the poor and marginalized. “He dedicated his life towards the service of poor people. I pay homage to him from my side, my government, and my party,” Singh remarked.

Soren, popularly known as Dishom Guru, was regarded as a key voice of Jharkhand’s tribal population and played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s political and social landscape. His passing has been mourned across political lines, with leaders highlighting his decades-long commitment to social justice and tribal rights.
