On the occasion of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid glowing tributes to the Nobel laureate, hailing him as an enduring symbol of India’s rich cultural and spiritual legacy. Singh remembered Tagore with deep reverence, acknowledging his unmatched contributions to literature, art, education, and national identity.
“Tributes to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his Jayanti,” Singh stated. “He was an epitome of India's cultural and spiritual heritage. His timeless words and vision continue to inspire generations. We remember him with deep respect and gratitude.”
Tagore, born on May 7, 1861, was a towering figure of the Bengal Renaissance and became the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for his collection Gitanjali. His creative genius found expression in poetry, music, drama, and philosophy, with works that continue to resonate across the world.
