Akhnoor, J&K/Pune – The nation celebrated Armed Forces Veterans Day with grand events held in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, and Pune, Maharashtra. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the event in Akhnoor, joined by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and GOC-in-C Northern Command Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar.
The event saw the distribution of motorised scooters and wheelchairs to disabled veterans, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting former service members. Defence Minister Singh also inaugurated the Akhnoor Heritage Museum, showcasing the region's rich cultural and military history, and unfurled a 30-metre-high National Flag as a tribute to the armed forces.

In Pune, the celebrations were led by Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi, accompanied by General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth. On the first day of his visit, General Dwivedi, along with Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Army Wives Welfare Association, visited the Artificial Limb Centre. During the visit, he inaugurated a state-of-the-art Upper Limb Training Lab, aimed at enhancing rehabilitation services for injured personnel, and interacted with patients undergoing treatment.
The Armed Forces Veterans Day celebrations served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by service members and highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to honor and support the veterans who have served the nation.
