Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing Indian Army personnel at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, declared a bold shift in India’s national security posture, stating that any future terror attack on Indian soil will be treated as an act of war. His comments reflect the Modi government’s hardline approach towards cross-border terrorism and its growing emphasis on military preparedness and decisive action.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have redefined India’s response to terrorism,” Singh stated. Highlighting Operation Sindoor as India’s largest and most decisive anti-terror strike to date, he noted it sent a clear message about the country’s capability and will to dismantle terrorism at its very roots.
The Defence Minister confirmed that the Pahalgam terror attack was avenged through precision strikes on both terrorist hideouts and Pakistani military positions. “The world has witnessed our strength and our restraint. This is the new India,” he said.
In a strong diplomatic signal, Singh also questioned the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, calling for international oversight to ensure global security is not jeopardized by instability in the region.
Reaffirming India's consistent position, Singh emphasized, “Terrorism and talks cannot go together.” He praised the Indian Armed Forces for their professionalism and commitment, asserting that India will continue to act with both strength and strategic restraint.
