Railways Minister Hails Dahod’s Locomotive Facility, Pushes for 100% Indigenous Production

Dahod, Gujarat: Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw lauded the locomotive manufacturing hub in Dahod, calling it a historic initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that will be remembered for generations.

Speaking at the facility, Vaishnaw expressed admiration for the advanced technology used in the locomotives being manufactured there. “This locomotive is 89% Made in India. This is a great achievement, and I challenge the team to make it 100% Made in India as soon as possible,” he said.

The Dahod facility has emerged as a key center for railway modernization, reinforcing the government’s commitment to self-reliance and industrial development. Vaishnaw emphasized that the locomotives produced here should gain global recognition. “We dream of locomotives manufactured in Dahod being famous across the world,” he added.

The Dahod industrial hub is expected to boost employment, attract investments, and strengthen India’s railway infrastructure, aligning with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India). The project underscores the Make in India initiative and positions Gujarat as a leader in high-tech railway production.
